Post on the Forum on Sun 14 Jun 09: Hi All, The weekend was a resounding success and I would like to say a heart felt THANK YOU to all who were able to attend and contribute to making it a fantastic trip down memory lane. I think I am correct in saying that Tenby got the thumbs up from all who attended, some of whom I have not seen over 20 years. In addition to my thanks to all attendees I would like to say a very big thank you to Si Watts and Moggy Davis. Si managed to secure free beer and a finger buffet in the Sun Inn which got the Saturday evening off to a flying start all be it we were all slightly subdued initially due to the amount of alcohol that was consumed on the Friday night and on Saturday afternoon at the BBQ. Cheers Si and thank you once again. Secondly I would like to thank Moggy Davis (BSM 12 Bty). Moggy's Bty are attending their Annual Firing Camp and have booked into to Pennally Camp (we all remember those good old days). The Bty had laid on a BBQ on Saturday afternoon for Bty members and Moggy was kind enough to invite us ex elephants along for a bite to eat. He provided transport from Tenby to Pennally and back again, free food and some very very cheap beer so as you can imagine we took full advantage (it would have been rude not to take full advantage). Because the BBQ was a total surprise it made it even more special. For some it was also a good experience to be back on camp and reminisce about thinks they got up to in the various accommodation blocks (wink wink) I would finally like to thank all the wives, ex wives ;-), girlfriends and friends who attended who are all very much part of us. I hope you all enjoyed yourselves and if can endure hearing the same stories all over again it would be great see you all at the next one (watch this space). I have rabbited on long enough now but for those that attended if you can get your photos to me as soon as you can I will get them uploaded onto the web. If you would like to email them to me then please email them to webmaster@assaye.co.uk or if you have too many to email and you think it would be easer to send them then you can put them on a disk (not my idea, cheers Dawn) and send them to me at: RALC Thorney Island, Baker Barracks, Thorney Island, Emsworth, Hants PO10 8DH. I am sure all those people who were unable to attend for what ever reason are eager to see what a fantastic time we had. As they say a picture paints a thousand words. Prof like the flag Gordie |

I posted this message on the forum on the 3 Sep 08: “Just as a thought, would anyone be interested in getting together next year (summer)? I am not suggesting a formal function just a get together. It would be a case of meeting up and having a few beers (or more) and reminiscing about the good old days. Individuals would be required to organise their own accommodation and feeding arrangements. If you are up for this I would suggest that Tenby be a good location for an initial get together after all it holds so many memories (good and bad) for the majority of people who have signed up for this site.” There was a limited response to the above post but I do believe there are more people out there that would be up for it so I have decided to go ahead and see what happens. Like I said in the post on the 03 Sep 08 there will be nothing formal just a get together and a few jars. The venue for this event will be Tenby and the date will be Sat 13 Jun 09. If you want to make a full weekend of it (with your family) then that is up to you but I think one day on the lash will be enough for most. If you decide you are up for a trip down memory lane and a few jars then please let me know. To give you an initial meeting place I suggest we meet in the POW at either 1200hrs or 1930hrs on Sat. If anyone else has a better suggestion then fire away. I must stress there will be nothing organised, I have given you a date, a choice of 2 meeting times and the location, the rest is up to you. See you there!! |
